There are over 30 duty free and tax free stores available along the US - Mexican Border, where you can buy your duty free merchandise when travelling abroad.

The customs regulations related to your allowances and limits at this crossing can be found by hitting the customs button to the left or by searching your destination country. These exemptions usually apply to your country of arrival and not to you country of departure.

Goods purchased Tax-Free and Duty Free at the US Border with Mexico must be exported across the frontier. When you buy in these stores, the goods are actually delivered to your vehicle in the US Exit Lane, or if you are on foot, at the crossing point into Mexico.

However, some Border Stores on the US side of the frontier with Mexico will now allow you to buy certain goods such as perfumes and cosmetics, without the need to export this merchandise to Mexico. But, you must pay the State Sales Tax on these special 'domestic' purchases. This domestic service is not permitted for liquor or tobacco sales. Prices in these Border Stores are very competitive, so this may be of interest when browsing these shops.
