Crete Chania Ferry Port

EU European Port: This is an EU Member State, Duty Free or Tax-Free shopping is not permitted for intra-EU travellers on cross-channel ferries, domestic ferries between islands or to the mainland, or on journeys like Mediterranean cruises that are only visiting another EU Country.

Ships in the EU have 'Travel Shops', sometimes known as 'Travel Value Outlets', where the goods are competitively priced for the passenger. Liquor and tobaccos and other products are still sold on most of these ships on a tax-paid basis and the prices can often be cheaper than your home country.

If your cruise or ferry is travelling on to another port, which is outside the EU economic area, then buying duty free goods will be permitted on this leg of your journey and throughout the entire sailing. Enquire on board at the tax-free shop for full information and prices, the crew will be able to advise on the specific regulations related to your journey.

Greek Ferries travel to domestic, EU and non-EU countries the Operators include: Superfast, Minoan, ANEK Lines, Agoudimos, Blue Star, Hellenic, Endeavour, Dodekanisas, and Sea Service. On Ferries travelling within the European Union or to other Greek ports there is no fixed allowance, but your purchases will be tax-paid. On ferries from ports in Greece to non-EU destinations your allowances will be the standard international customs limits, the same as flying to the destination country. So, search your final destination above, click a travel point and then the red customs button for your exemptions. Port shops in the docks may have slightly different regulations, please see our port store messages for details, as the rules will apply to each different location.

Many Cruise and Ferry Port retailers are yet to publish their on-line duty free catalogues, prices and store locations. As soon as the online duty free pre-order information is available, we will update this page.
